We're a small, volunteer-powered rescue. We read messages when we can, but we can't monitor them around the clock or promise a response time.
Intake
Our capacity changes from week to week, and we can't promise intake. Please talk with us before bringing or leaving any animal with us.

Frequently asked questions
Are you a shelter or animal control?
No. Bentley's Playhouse is a small Miami-based rescue. Public shelters and animal control, like Miami-Dade Animal Services (opens in a new tab), handle strays, lost and found reports and emergencies.
I found a dog. Can you take it?
We can't promise intake. Our space changes week to week. Please start with I found a dog: get the dog scanned and report it to Animal Services, which is required in Miami-Dade. Then contact us with photos, the location and what you've done so far, and we'll tell you honestly what we can do.
Can you help pay for my dog's vet care?
We can't offer funding for vet care. These options may help: affordable vet care in Miami, RedRover Relief (opens in a new tab) and Pet Help Finder (opens in a new tab).
How do I adopt one of your dogs?
Start with our adoption application (opens in a new tab). If it's approved, we'll call for a short phone screening, then a home safety inspection, a background check and vetting, and finally the adoption contract. See Adopt & Foster for the full steps. Our current dogs are listed on RescueMe (opens in a new tab) and Instagram (opens in a new tab).
Do you answer messages around the clock?
No. We're a small team and we reply when we can. If an animal is hurt or in danger, please use the emergency steps instead of waiting for us.
Are donations tax-deductible?
We'll publish our legal and tax information on the Donate page once it's confirmed. Until then, please don't assume a gift is tax-deductible.
Is the site available in Spanish?
Not yet. A full Spanish version is planned, so that guides, forms and checklists are all properly translated.
